Directions: From I-75, exit 143, Hwy 78/Bayshore Dr., westbound, 5 miles, Right US Hwy 41, North; 5 miles. Look for Del Prado Blvd. stoplight. Drive past stoplight to 2nd right onto Carefree Blvd.

Evaluation

We made a day trip from where we were staying to see this resort because we were under the impression that men were not permitted to stay. Au contraire! We were warmly greeted by our hostess and welcomed by every resident that we encountered. Here is the deal, all are welcome any time. This is an equal rights community. The only thing is that the club house is owned and operated by women in the community and they are only willing to share the facility between 11:00AM and 1:00 PM daily. This kind of reminds me of when I had swim team practice at the Jewish Community Center. The facility is pristine and I am sure it is a pleasure to use if only for short periods of time. The problem I would have is how I manage my time between the pool, hot tub, lying in the sun overlooking the lake and its waterfall, playing pickle ball, working out in the exercise room, working in the pottery room or doing any number of other activities in the multi purpose area and library.

The residents of “Carefree” have a first class manicured resort. All of the home and RV sites are well landscaped. I see a lot of pride in the community based on the entire 50 acres did not have a thing out of place or looking as if it needed repair. The community does house two sorts of co-op ventures. One is a two lot parcel that has been fenced and landscaped for a gathering pet exercise spot. The other is a house that was purchased by the art club and is used as a studio and also has accommodations for the clubs guests.

The rentals that are available in the community are privately owned and managed by the resident staff. If you have an RV or are looking for a vacation rental I am sure that the women at “Carefree” will do whatever they can to match your needs with their availabilities. We were very impressed with the warm and professional attention we got during our tour and visit, and we are confident that you will not receive anything less.
