Evaluation

We did not have any difficulty finding this campground. It is literally at the end of a road past acres of fields full of livestock and crops. We were checked in by Koren, and led to our site by Dale, the owner. Due to the limited number of 50 amp, full hook up sites and our late reservation we were put into a site at the pool fence with 30 amp service and no sewer. It was a nice grassy site with a palm tree, some bushes that made for nice atmosphere.

The campground is made up of a variety of sites and locations, including: fully wooded, partially wooded, and sunny. Also cabins, yurts, and different types of trailers can be rented. The pool and the sand volleyball court are within a stockade style fence which is the only stated clothing optional area. This area is located at the edge of the field and at the perimeter of the camping sites. The rec hall and bathhouse are centrally located with a nice courtyard area. The rec hall has a large screen TV and sitting area, a DJ set up, stage, dance floor, tables with chairs, and kitchen area. The bathhouse is set up with separate areas for men and women.  On the other side of the campground from the pool area, past the maintenance shed, and beyond the tenting area begins a trail that winds back into the woods.

We enjoyed our stay at Camp Mars very much. The campers were very friendly and we were very impressed with Dale’s participation in group activities at the rec hall. The campground is kept generally clean and the trash was removed promptly. Most of the features that we typically find at other campgrounds were also at this one. However, it appears that many makeshift improvements have been made. We also noticed, what seemed to be, a lot of unnecessary clutter throughout the grounds. With that said, I also have to mention; other campers told us that an employee recently “dissappeared”, leaving Koren as Dale’s sole employee besides the occasional camper volunteer.

I dig Camp Mars. I live in Fort Lauderdale and go camping to get away from the choas of life in the concrete jungle. I go camping during the week to better my camping experience of communing with nature. I find exactly what I need at Camp Mars… nature, good energy, setting very conducive to self centering and restoration. Being a tent camper, and a nudist, I have my favorise section and camp site that’s allows me to camp exactly as I like… naturally. I always feel at welcome and as if I’m ‘home’ at Camp Mars. Thank you Dale and Koren… who in my opinion, Dale and Koren are the best!
